US Foods Management Development Supervisor - Supply Chain in San Francisco, California
Management Development Supervisors are leaders, supervising Warehouse and Transportation operations and personnel, and developing associates; they are champions of safety, overseeing procedures, processes, the physical condition of the warehouse and equipment, and training to create and maintain a safety first culture; and they serve as the face of US Foods Supply Chain, ensuring accurate order fulfillment; effectively communicating with buyers; and devising cost-effective, seamless delivery solutions.
About Our Supply Chain Management Development Program
The Management Development Supervisor will participate in US Foods’ Supply Chain Management Development Program (MDP), a full-time, accelerated entry-level management development program that consists of three rotations (24 months total).
Program participants will engage in both classroom and on the job training to further develop supply chain systems knowledge while managing daily USF Supply Chain department operations by providing hands-on leadership in the areas of Inbound Warehouse, Outbound Warehouse and Transportation. At the successful completion of the program, graduates have the opportunity to be placed into Warehouse or Transportation Manager roles in select locations determined by the needs of the business and overall individual performance.
The ability to relocate is a requirement for entry into the Management Development Program as participants will be relocated to gain additional regional exposure. Relocation takes place after the first 12 months and will include a company-sponsored relocation package.
Program participants will engage in their first two rotations (12 months total) in the location specified in this posting. No housing allocation will be provided. Locally-residing candidates are encouraged to apply.
Program Rotations #1 and #2 – Warehouse (Duration: 12 months total)
#1 - Inbound Warehouse Supervisor (Duration: 3 months)
Supervise Day Warehouse operations and personnel. Assign inbound trucks to dock doors and direct the workforce in the efficient and timely unloading, receiving and replenishment of stock to ensure the warehouse is ready for the shipping shift. Oversee Will Call. This position will report to the Inbound Manager.
#2 - Outbound Warehouse Supervisor (Duration: 9 months)
Supervise night warehouse operations and personnel for safe and efficient preparation of product for delivery to customers the following day. A first line manager, directing associates to achieve accurate orders that are then staged and loaded on the trucks. Oversee the preparation of the warehouse to receive product for the next day. Involved in resolving personnel, organizational and equipment problems during the night shift. This position will report to Outbound Manager.
At the completion of the first 12-months, a formal assessment will be conducted to determine eligibility based on performance for the third and final 12-month rotation.
Program Rotation #3 – Transportation (Duration: 12 months)
Transportation Supervisor (Duration: 12 months)
The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the administration of daily outbound shipments to customers and other distribution centers within the organization. Must ensure a safe and secure working environment and operate in a profitable manner. This position will report to the Transportation Manager.

Program Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related; or one year of direct military supply chain experience; or one year of US Foods warehouse or transportation experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills.
Through past experience or academic course work, demonstrated ability to interpret financial and operational data; familiarity with inventory control (warehouse) or transportation software, OSHA, HAACP, DOT and other regulatory requirements; demonstrated leadership; and general knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and procedures. Demonstrated proficiency using Excel.
