Basic Purpose-

The Director will be responsible for leading large transportation department in delivering outstanding service to a broad customer base at the most efficient cost.

The Director will be responsible for leading a large transportation department in delivering outstanding service to a broad customer base at the most efficient cost. The team consists of over 175 unionized delivery drivers, as well as union and non-union support staff and a developing management team. The primary responsibilities include:

- Lead the development and implementation of procedures and practices to support our medium and long term operational goals

- Oversee day-to-day operations; deliver high customer service in a cost-effective manner

- Ensure all safety practices are fully implemented and adhered to- Ensure that product is delivered in a professional and high-quality manner that is in full compliance with all regulations

- Manage and motivate a large team of highly diverse union & non-union individuals

- Manage and be accountable for all transportation assets and department operating budget.

Qualifications-

Must have:

- Minimum 5 yrs experience in transportation/logistics industry, with at least five years manager level accountability

- Demonstrated experience leading, managing and developing teams- Highly customer service focused

- Self motivated and results oriented

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong analysis and problem solving skills

- P&L and forecasting experience- Ability to develop and deliver creative & effective solutions

- Demonstrated ability to work well with others and build consensus

- Comfortable multi-tasking in a complex, metrics-driven environment

- Ability to successfully manage & deliver complex projects

- Flexibility and ability to adapt to/lead change

- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other regulatory policies

Strongly Desired

:- Management of remote teams

- Experience in other business functions

- Knowledge of Transportation Industry best practices & techniques

- Computer literate with strong PC skills
