US Foods Produce Specialist in Roanoke, Virginia
The primary purpose of this position is to increase sales and penetration of the produce category by providing category expertise and selling both independently and jointly with Territory Managers (TMs) through the following: consultative services to aid customers through improved utilization of the category; sales force training; conducting product demonstrations to increase category and product knowledge.
Responsible for driving penetration and growthof assigned categories through consultative sales activities with targetedcustomers both independently and with Territory Managers.
Provide productexpertise and sales support for all aspects of the category includingpromotional opportunities, product information, suggested pricing, competitiveinformation, and menu ideas prioritized fortop penetration opportunities to achieve Division case growth objectives forcategory, as well as, realize Exclusive Brand (EB) conversionopportunities.
Drive KPIs acrosscategory (including sales case growth, category penetration, EB penetration,and TM feedback) and competitive market pricing; work with TMs to refineproduct offering, order guides and potential pricing for new accounts.
Support category specific product conversion activities, and new itemsales opportunities based upon product margins, features and benefits.
Assist TMs in openingnew accounts with highest potential; accompany TMs onhigh potential accounts’visits to provide specific category expertise. Train TMs, focusing on toppenetration priorities and utilizing hands-on product and printed materialsduring monthly sales meetings and one-on-one opportunities in the field; coachTMs during ride-alongs.
Develop and present selling and relevant trainingmaterials in conjunction with Category Management and Training functions.
Demonstrate product use and/or menuapplications at Division and Customer locations providing consulting expertiseto customers on the key product considerations, product features/benefits andusage/preparation of the product.
Assist in category growth by acquiring andproviding marketing intelligence and customer feedback on product offerings,pricing, trends and innovations in the market; provide input into marketing / sellingmaterials and events at the Division and assist Category Management withsourcing and inventory requirements.
Promote and provide business solutions to top customers, passingpotential leads toBusiness Solutions’ team and facilitating a smooth transition.
Answer (limited) product questions from the TMs via phone or email.
Provide (limited) support to TMs in selling activities fornon-prioritized opportunities.

- HighSchool diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Must possess a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in producecategory
- Must possess deep, comprehensive produce productknowledge;culinary training beneficial.
- Consultativeselling skills preferred.
- Possessesstrong verbal and written communication skills, as well as solid interpersonal,presentation and training skills required.
- Foodserviceexperience preferred, but not required.
