US Foods Demand Planner, Grocery in Rosemont, Illinois
The RSC Produce Demand Planner (Forecasting Analyst) analyzes and adjusts, where appropriate, system forecasts based upon the daily and ongoing review of product demand, seasonal, industry and market trends to accurately anticipate future sales. Responsible for delivering forecast accuracy and bias per defined responsibilities and department KPI(s). Works closely with Category Management and the RSC Produce Replenishment team to meet or exceed overall department KPI objectives.
Determines the appropriate forecast model for individual SKU based on product and seasonality and sets forecast variance tolerances.
Proactively ensures accurate development of demand data based upon forecast model, individual forecasts, inventory targets DIOH, replenishment lead-time and master data settings.
Determines the best method to improve overall forecast accuracy and adjusts forecast models when and as necessary.
Analyzes forecast bias to identify and understand variables impacting forecast accuracy, adjusting when and as appropriate. Works closely with Category Management and the RSC Produce Replenishment team and proactively adjust forecasts to accommodate external information.
Assists in the development of proper safety stock strategies.
Interprets, tracks and reports forecast implications on phase in/out items.
Interacts as necessary with other functional areas (as defined) to provide accurate forecast information relevant to the respective area.
Works cross functionally to proactively manage aging inventory, slow moving items and discontinued items.

Education/Training:Four-year college degree required. Focus in business, statistics, mathematics, or supply chain management preferred.MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
Related Experience:Minimum two years Demand Planning and or forecasting experience preferred.
- Exercises independent judgment and decision making.
- Produce category specific experience interpreting seasonality, market and trend information.
- A thorough understanding of Food Service and interpreting the impact of promotional activity, seasonality and new products on demand fluctuations.
- Possesses superior analytic and communication skills.
- Possesses the ability to solve complex problems in an expeditious manner.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Majority of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position at a computer for long periods of time. Position is located in an office setting.
