US Foods Load Planner in Rosemont, Illinois
Responsible for planning and executing transportation services from vendor shipping locations to US Foods distribution facilities, and 3rd party cross dock facilities, while ensuring on time delivery and maximizing freight income. Single point of contact for field logistics operations questions and concerns, along with financial results for the assigned Area. Oversee carrier tactical relationships and manage carrier accountability to support freight tender acceptance at contracted prices while ensuring on-time delivery. Manage loads for assigned area and guide calls and meetings with carriers as needed to discuss performance. Collaborate with the Carrier Development Team to provide support and input on primary and secondary carriers, bid awards, and business reviews. Review blueprint compliance and escalate as needed. Review all negative loads before planning and escalate issues for mitigation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform inbound load planning activities by tendering loads to selected carriers to meet service and freight income expectations by utilizing the Transportation Management System (TMS).
Identify optimal freight solutions and select best mode of transportation to reduce cost while focusing on truck utilization.
Drive improved load profitability through collaboration with the Replenishment team. Reduce negative freight income by reviewing expedited and negative loads and creating solutions before loads are tendered.
Process load tenders and track all managed loads for assigned Area through delivery to US Foods facility. Proactively communicate potential delivery delays to our internal field customers and develop alternate delivery solutions
Lead in daily communication with Carriers and the Carrier Development Team, on tender acceptance issues, on-time delivery and any deviations to the contractual rate. Facilitate calls and meetings with Carriers as needed to discuss issues and solutions
Act as the single point of contact for our internal field customers for any logistics operational issues
During the planning process, review blueprint compliance and work with Replenishment to optimize the blueprint. Escalate blueprint issues to Manager when adjustments are needed.

Education/Training: Bachelors degree or equivalent progressive logistics, transportation and distribution experience required. 5 years prior experience with TMS applications and Carrier management preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong knowledge of transportation management, strong logistics background required. Ability to utilize TMS for Execution, Optimization, Carrier Tariff knowledge, and the ability to drive freight income within the inbound logistics program. Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time. Ability to establish a working relationship while holding our Carrier partners to a high standard of service
Proficient in the use of PC's and windows-based applications. Highly analytical, strong ability to manage process changes in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills needed.
