US Foods Sr. Accountant in Rosemont, Illinois
The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of accounting assignments in support of the Corporate Office and Field Operations. These assignments include researching support and compiling and posting month-end journal entries, completing complex balance sheet account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with internal controls, including SOX control requirements. Perform assigned tasks while applying accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions. Respond to non-routine complex inquiries in assigned areas requiring judgment and the application of GAAP and Company policies, procedures and practices. Support and contribute to cross functional projects.
-Work closely with IT and process owners on system issues related to assigned accounts.
-Apply expertise in GAAP, process and business knowledge to classify and record financial transactions.
-Provide functional advice or training to less-experienced accountant positions.
-Provide annual budget and forecast support data.
-Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts, and investigate/resolve variances within deadlines.
-Compile and/or post journal entries in support of period end close activities for Corporate Office and Field Operations.
-Develop and maintain databases to support and facilitate accounting and reconciliation activities.
-Prepare weekly/monthly analysis in support of assigned accounts.
-Assist Corporate Accounting department with projects, research, and system related tasks as assigned.
-Compile and provide audit support as requested by internal and external auditors.

Bachelor degree in accounting or equivalent. CPA Preferred
Five or more years related experience.
General ledger accounting with strong financial analysis experience required.
Understand requirements for documentation in workpapers, memos and demonstrated ability to document a broad range of technical issues.
Effective teambuilding and leadership skills.
Commitment to highest standards of quality and integrity.
Public accounting experience a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and organizational skills; multitask
oriented; and ability to meet deadlines.
Experience with complex balance sheet reconciliation is required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
Experience with PeopleSoft a plus.
Thorough understanding of GAAP.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work with and demonstrate discretion with confidential information.
Work with minimum supervision, conferring with manager or others on more complex matters.
